Submission Guidelines

Instructions for Authors

  • The editors of PAEDEIA invite submissions of article-length manuscripts (between 6,000 and 10,000 words) that are from a wide range of disciplines within the fields of humanities, social sciences and law. We are keen to publish essays that provoke us to think and that demonstrate engagement with new and emerging modes of scholarship within disciplines, theories, and methodologies. PAEDEIA only accepts contributions in English.
  • The authors may follow any standard citation format. However, if accepted, authors would have to follow the Chicago Style Citation.
  • Manuscripts should be submitted via the PAEDEIA Journal website, by selecting the “Submissions” tab and following the instructions provided. Send your manuscript as a Word document. Do not send your submission as a PDF file. All submitted manuscripts undergo a peer review process prior to publication. If accepted, authors will be asked to revise their work according to the formatting guidelines.
  • Full articles need to be within the range of 6,000 to 10,000 words (excluding footnotes and a list of references). Book review essays should be within the range of 3,000 to 5,000 words, excluding footnotes and a list of references). Book reviews should be within the range of 700 words.
  • Articles and essays must include an abstract of up to 250 words, followed by up to five keywords. All research papers must include a title page with author(s)’ names, institutional affiliation(s), and contact information for the corresponding author. The paper should be anonymized for the peer review process, meaning no author details should appear in the manuscript itself.
  • Research papers should not be submitted simultaneously to, or be under review by, another journal when submitted to PAEDEIA. A publication as a conference presentation, working paper series, or preprint would not be considered a prior publication. Graduate students are welcome to submit manuscripts for consideration.
  • Authors are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards in publishing. PAEDEIA does not accept papers involving the use of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) in the production, analysis, or interpretation of data or narrative text.
